APPLICATION PROCESS

How to Become a Member of the IUOE Local 318

Begin your journey with IUOE Local 318 in a 4-year apprenticeship starting in 2024. Discover diverse roles in operating heavy machinery and more within the construction industry. Learn on the job and build a foundation for a thriving career. 

Applicants must reside in one of the following counties: Williamson, Franklin, Jackson, Saline, Gallatin, Hardin, Pope, Johnson, Union, Pulaski, Alexander, Massac, White or Hamilton.
More Info About Apprenticeship & Training 
Applications for the 2025 apprenticeship are being accepted until March 31, 2025.
AGE & EDUCATION
You must be at least 18 years old and hold a High School Diploma or GED.
RESIDENCY
Reside in one of the 14 specified counties in Illinois.
LEGAL REQUIREMENTS
Possess a valid Illinois driver's license and be eligible to work in the U.S.
HEALTH & FITNESS
Be physically capable of performing manual trade work and submit to a drug screening.
Applications can be picked up at the Union Hall between the hours of 7am to 4pm, Monday through Friday. Once you’ve gathered all required documents, call the Training Office at 618-942-3931 to schedule an appointment to apply. If you have any questions, please contact Ann at (618) 993-0318

You must bring your valid Illinois driver's license and a $20 cashier’s check or money order to your appointment.

Ensure you have all your documents ready and complete the preliminary requirements.
Birth certificate copy.
Two personal reference letters.
Two work reference letters.
Official high school transcript, and either:
- Copy of high school diploma, or
- GED transcript and GED completion certificate.
